ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS OF HOMOEOPATHY?

Q. I have been suffering from severe headaches for quite some time. I have been taking painkillers for it. Initially the tablets used to work fine. But lately i have realized that I have to take pain-reducing medicine almost on a daily basis. I have heard that over the counter painkillers are not good for health. I want to reduce my dependence on them but this pain is quite debilitating and I am unable to work. I would like to get healed one and for all. Someone suggested Homeopathy, I was thinking about trying it but are there any side effects of the medicines?

A. Homeopathic medicines are safe to take and do not have side effects. They are so gentle that most people prefer to treat their children with this. Chronic health issues are often sorted with the gentle care of Homoeopathy. You should definitely try Homeopathy for management of these recurring headaches.

Q. Since childhood I have been suffering from Psoriasis. I have been taking conventional treatments for it but it keeps coming back. Sometimes I feel I will never be cured. I hate to go out and meet friends and socialize. People keep asking me about it and even when they are not looking at me I feel they are. I have heard that Homeopathy is very good for skin disorders. I would like to try it but am scared of stopping my regular medicine. Can I take conventional medicines with the Homeopathic medicines?

Ans: Conventional medicines can be taken safely along with Homoeopathic medicines, these are natural products so do not interfere, but there should be an hours gap in taking the medicines. In case you are on allopathic medicines, you should not discontinue it abruptly. The Allopathic dosage can be tapered off in consultation with the physician once improvement starts with the Homoeopathic medicines.

Q. I am a diabetic, I avoid sugar commonly. For the last one year i have been suffering from frequent stomach disorders. Allopathic treatment many a times increases the problem. I would like to go for Homoeopathic treatment but am uneasy because of my diabetes. Do you think it is advisable for me to seek Homoeopathic treatment? Can a diabetic patient take these sugar pills?

Ans: We often encounter this question and the answer is fairly simple. In mild to moderate diabetic cases, Homoeopathy is safe and does not fluctuate. There is always an option of taking dilutions or liquid medicines. Infact globules are just a mode of dispensing, the actual medicine does not contain any sugar and will definitely not have an impact on the sugar level. So, now you can go ahead and try Homoeopathy.

Q. After a long struggle, I have managed to lose considerable amount of weight. I wouldn’t want to put it back on due to the Homoeopathic treatment though I have heard it is the best course of action for skin allergies that I am suffering from. Is there any chance of putting on weight while being on Homoeopathic medicines?

Ans: Homoeopathic medicines do not have the capacity to increase the weight of a person. There is nothing in the medicine to promote weight again. In case you do put on weight, please check your family history which may be responsible for the tendency to this problem. In such cases, it is important to exercise regularly and follow a proper diet.

Q. I have heard that one shouldn’t touch Homoeopathic medicine. I have a little two year old who loves to put his medicine in his hands and then merrily eat them. I am afraid that the medicine would be ineffective then?

Ans: This is a very wrong notion and should not be entertained. There are no restrictions in touching Homoeopathic medicines provided the hands are clean. You can easily allow your little one to take them in hands before popping them in his mouth. Don’t worry!
